Looking back on the early days of MONDAY NIGHT RAW, it's clear that the good clearly outweighs the bad. Yes, we had to sit through squash matches but we also got pay-per-view quality matches like Mr. Perfect and Ric Flair's Loser Leaves Town match. Yes we had to listen to Rob Bartlett but often times McMahon and Savage just ignored him and made a great announce team on their own. Yes, we endured debuts of guys like Friar Ferguson - but on the other hand we also saw debuts of the likes of The 1-2-3 Kid and Diesel.
One of the best parts of MONDAY NIGHT RAW'S early days is often forgotten, but we here at the Network Nation are finally putting the spotlight back on: THE RAW GIRLS!
Taking a page from the boxing world, the WWE employed a "bevy of beauties" (as Vince would refer to them) to prance around the ring at different points in the show - many times wearing almost next to nothing. But hey, it's supposed to be Uncooked and Uncensored right?
The best part is what they were holding. Since there are no "rounds" in wrestling, someone thought "hey, let's have the girls hold up signs with as many different puns or plays on the word "RAW" (My all-time personal favorite sign was "RAW & ORDER")
Most of these women, by today's standards, wouldn't even be welcome at most Indy wrestling shows, let alone alongside the Divas on RAW - but back in 1993 they were the original Raw Divas and here they are in all their glory. (Check back often for more updates)
